The George School Varsity Math Team beats Westtown, Episcopal B, Westtown (again), and Shipley to win the varsity tournament.

Westtown, "Warm up": 6-6/6 (won by time)

Episcopal B, Quarterfinals: 20-11/30

Westtown again, Semifinals: 6-5/6

Shipley, Finals: 18-13/30 *

Vs The Hill School (PL) *

Led by Captains Forest Ho-Chen '22, Wilson Chen '23, Ian Hopkins '22, and Linglong Dai '23, and forwards Jason Liu '22 and Yuki Wang '23, the Varsity Math team finished the regular season as Philly League Champions with a 13-2 overall record (8-1 in the Philly League) including 2 shutouts (much harder than in most sports), marking the third time that GSVMT has won the Philly League (and there have only been three tournaments). Additionally, for the third year in a row, George School also had the individual champion, Jimmy Ding '23 (2019: Bom Jindanuwat '20. 2020: Forest Ho-Chen '22).

GS won 30-19/35 against The Hill School in the biggest match of the fall season for any sport. With support from George School's Cross Country, Boys Varsity Soccer, and Varsity Football teams, George School was able to defend its number 1 ranking against the number 2 ranked team, The Hill School. During the match, Hill's top player played very strongly, but due to great captaining, other players, such as Wilson Chen '23 and Yuki Wang '23, stepped up and performed well. Most notably, Jimmy Ding '23 got a perfect score and became the number 1 player in the Philly League, while the team showed that they deserved to be number 1 in Philly.

With this, the George School Varsity Math Team wins its third consecutive Philly League Title in both the team and individual categories (Can we get a banner in the FAC?). Please give a big congratulations to the George School Varsity Math Team!!!

Vs Scarsdale (MM)

GSVMT loses 35-35/40 by time in the first bracket round of Math Madness. This is likely the worst loss of any George School team, along with GS Boys Varsity Soccer's loss to Westtown. Wilson Chen '23 got a perfect score, and Ian Hopkins '22 had a great performance as well.

Vs Malvern Prep (PL)

GS wins 29-0/35 in our second shutout of the year. Wilson Chen '23 had a perfect score, and two players had 6/7. (Note, since the results of this match came out after the loss to Scarsdale, the win streak is 11 instead of 12.)

Vs Yorba Linda High School (MM)

GS wins 30-13/40, with no perfect scores. Player of the Match went to Ally Fu '24.

Vs Westtown (PL) *

GS beats our rival 29-13/35 and avenges the GS Boys Varsity Soccer team to go 6-1 in the Philly League, 2-0 in the Friends League (beating all FSL opponents), and 10-1 overall. GS was also ranked 1st in the Philly league after this match in both the individual and team categories. Perfect score by Forest Ho-Chen '22 and Player of the Match went to everyone who participated. It was later discovered that this was the pseudo-finals of FSL Varsity Math as Westtown beat Shipley at some point in the regular season. This match was very similar to the 2019 win over Westtown. GSVMT would later face Westtown twice in the Varsity Tournament. Do we get Moose Points?

Vs Chamblee Charter (MM)

GS beats Chamblee Charter 37-15/40, with perfect scores from Forest Ho-Chen '22 and Linglong Dai '23 and a notable great performance by Jimmy Ding '23. This is the first ranked match in Math Madness, and we got ranked 23rd.

Vs Penn Charter (PL)

GS wins 32-26/35 to go 5-1 in the Philly League and 8-1 overall. Perfect scores by Linglong Dai '23, Jason Liu '22, and Jackson Yang '25, and a great performance by Forest Ho-Chen '22.

Vs Columbia Prep (MM) *

The George School Varsity Math Team wins in a 38-0/40 shutout (first of the season), with perfect scores from Forest Ho-Chen '22, Yuki Wang '23, and Ian Hopkins '22, and notable great performances by Ally Fu '24, and Elie Koay '25. Fun Fact: This is currently the largest GS victory by ratio (x76, 0 is treated as 0.5), and it used to be the largest by point differential (+38). Now, Boys Swimming vs Moorestown Friends is a larger win (102-29, +73).

Vs Baldwin (PL)

GS wins 30-15/35, with Forest Ho-Chen '22 having a perfect score, and other players, notably Zach Kalb '22, also having a great performance to go 4-1 in the Philly League.

Vs Rockford Christian (MM)

GS "loses" 40-39/40, but Rockford Christian appeared to be clearly cheating as their scores were almost always a multiple of 5. This match is counted as a win by forfeit. Perfect scores from MC Gu '24, Yuki Wang '23, Jason Liu '22, and Wade Wang '23.

Vs Episcopal (PL)

George School beats Episcopal Academy 32-27/35, perfect scores by Forest Ho-Chen '22, Linglong Dai '23, and Wilson Chen '23. GSVMT would later face Episcopal B in the Varsity Tournament at Episcopal Academy.

Vs Benilde St. Margaret's (MM)

George School has a great performance in our Math Madness Season Opener with three perfect scores, winning 38-22/40. Perfect scores by Yuki Wang '23, Forest Ho-Chen '22, and Linglong Dai '23, and good performances by Ally Fu '24, Vinay Thulasiram '23, and Wade Wang '23.

George School gets revenge on our second rival, Shipley, in our FSL season opener, winning 30-20/40 despite missing three of our best players. This match is known as the "Shipley Miracle," and it is very similar to Boys Varsity Soccer vs Perkiomen (10-3, but we were down a player in the second half where we won 6-0), and it is one of the main examples of the Varsity Math Team in George School culture. Perfect score by Forest Ho-Chen '22 and a great performance by Jackson Yang '25. GSVMT would later face Shipley in the Varsity Tournament in the championship match.

Vs Agnes Irwin (PL)

GS Varsity Math did much better and got our first win in our second matchup, winning 37-16/40 with perfect scores from Forest Ho-Chen '22, Wilson Chen '23, and Jason Liu '22.

Vs Haverford (PL)

A very disappointing season opener for the GS Varsity math team, losing 34-31/40 to Haverford. This is because many of our best players did not show up. There were no perfect scores, but Yuki Wang '23 had a great performance.
