George School Varsity Math Team
Midseason Report
So we start our season, looking at a new team,
As star players from the past were now at the college scene,
It’s our first math match, and who is it against?
None other than Haverford, and they could be the best.
As we walked on the field, we saw many people missing,
The stakes were very high, and the Fords were hissing,
But we couldn’t really clinch a win to open our season,
And we lost, 34-31, and that’s for a reason.

Next up in the Philly league was Agnes Irwin,
A chance for us to CLAP BACK and get our first win,
We usually don’t do that well against this team,
But despite that, we won 37-16.
But then, we were set to face a rival, Shipley.
Last time was controversial, we’d all say “It doesn’t fit me.”
And the rankings were the same from the Haverford match,
And we didn’t have our star players as if they detached.

And we go onto the stage,
But the rankings didn’t change,
We didn’t even have a player on the first page.
But we played well and smart,
Treating Math Team like an art,
With our varsity label, we’ll never be torn apart.
And we go onto the stage,

But we played well and smart,

With our varsity label, we’ll never be torn apart.
And we went into the match, thinking “how do we win?”
‘Gainst our second rival when last time they threw us in a bin.
But a miracle happened, and we did relatively well,
And our 30-20 win became a story we could tell.
So we were undefeated in the Friends League, that’s a real opener,
Now we had math madness, and our third opener,
And we played strong, winning 38-22,
But our next match could have been a loss we wouldn’t want to go through.
Against Episcopal, some of us just never do well.
And they were right below us, a warning sign that we could tell.
But regardless, we still played our best,
And with three perfect scores, we won by five points so we rest,
But our next match we got put against Rockford Christian,
A school that collaborates among their players for position,
That is not allowed, and though we got the lower score,
It is technically a win, and we wanted a few more.
And we go onto the stage,
But the rankings didn’t change,
We didn’t even have a player on the first page.

So our next opponent in the Philly league was Baldwin,
We didn’t play them last year, but they were still in,
And I’ll have to say, it wasn’t our greatest performance,
But we still came out with a win, and it was still enormous
And back to Math Madness against Columbia Prep,
And with three perfect scores, we were taking the right step,
Then they left the competition before they faced us.
So we won, 38-0, biggest win, no victory bus.
After that, it was time for Penn Charter,
As for the questions, they seemed a bit harder,
And to the surprise of some of us, they played very well,
But regardless of what happened, still, a win as we could tell,
And we go onto the stage,
But the rankings didn’t change,
We didn’t even have a player on the first page.

And it’s another charter school, this time in Math Madness,
It’s the first-ranked round, measuring the good and badness,
And we do pretty well, placing on the third page,
And it really shows it when these rankings do change.
And now we have our match against our real rival team,
The school that must not be named, and though it seemed,
Just like Shipley or Haverford, we did a bit better,
29 points, just like the last season ender.
We beat Westtown 29-10 on that match,
But this season, we were missing players from our batch.
But, what happened when we looked back at the score reported?
They got 13 points, from the top 5 they’re deported.
And we go onto the stage,
And the ranking’s finally changed,
And we even had a top one player on the first page
‘Cause we play so well and smart,
Treating Math Team like an art,
With our top of the league label, we’ll never be torn apart.
And we pull another win against a Friends League School,
Two wins in the Friends League ‘cause we’re just so cool,
Beating all our FSL opponents, third team to do so,
Now let’s go and win the next few matches, don’t let go.
But first, for Boys Varsity Soccer, “Goodbye Westtown!”
We-e-e-e-e-est Town! We-e-est Town! Goodbye!
We-e-e-e-e-est Town! We-e-est Town! Goodbye!
We-e-e-e-e-est Town! We-e-est Town! Goodbye!
And we go onto the stage,
And the ranking’s finally changed,
And we even had a top one player on the first page
‘Cause we play so well and smart,
Treating Math Team like an art,
With our top of the league label, we’ll never be torn apart.
