12/18/2021: New York, New York. Chosen because George School was going on winter break, also because of viewership. Also make sure to check out the Holiday Edition! 12/25/2021: MATES has chosen five places as Location of the Week. These are Yardley, PA; Newtown, PA (both chosen as warm, holiday locations, also the main locations for MATES); Jerusalem (chosen because of history); Kourou, French Guiana (chosen because of the James Webb Space Telescope); and Whoville. Happy Holidays! Please also participate in the scavenger hunts to win shoutouts!

MATES is happy to present to you the third MATES Location of the Week. For some weeks, this will be determined by viewership, while in other weeks, special events relating to the MATES subjects or MATES itself will be used to determine the Location of the Week. Due to the George School Varsity Math Team's victory at the Varsity Tournament on December 9th, Episcopal Academy has been named this week's location of the week. Read about GSVMT's big victory here: https://matesofficial.wixsite.com/mates/gsvmtaddswintoitsfinaltally

Antarctica will soon be blocked from the sun By the moon and the place will be dark like it's one (but not really because the location will be in the Antarctic Circle where the sun, you can see) So why do we tell 'bout this thing you may seek? 'cause Antarctica's named "MATES Location of [the] week." Read more information here.

MATES is happy to present to you the first MATES Location of the Week. For some weeks, this will be determined by viewership, while in other weeks, special events relating to the MATES subjects or MATES itself will be used to determine the Location of the Week. This week, MATES has decided that Puerto Rico will be the Location of the Week. One famous thing about Puerto Rico related to the MATES subjects is the Arecibo Telescope. The Arecibo Telescope was a radio telescope near Arecibo, PR, and it used to be the largest single-aperture telescope in the world. It is known for transmitting the Arecibo Message towards the globular cluster Messier 13. The Arecibo Message was a 23 by 73 binary rectangle made to communicate with extraterrestrial life. The message includes information about human number systems, human DNA, the location of Earth in the solar system, and the Arecibo Telescope itself. In the Area 51 Edition of MATES, Travis Ortogero made a 3 by 17 Arecibo Message, while Andrew Luisi '24 wrote about another message to aliens, the Voyager Golden Records. The Arecibo Telescope collapsed on December 1, 2021.
