Addition, usually the first function in math taught to children, has been looked over by many. Simply put, most people don’t think of addition as anything more than just:
2+2=4
5+5=10
823+4901=5724
But there’s so much more if you dive deeper into addition; it was the origin of math. Let me explain: addition was may have been created because counting:
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10…
is just too slow when you’re trying to get to numbers above twenty—and that’s being generous—so someone said let's just go from “a” and skip ahead by “b” places so we can count faster.

It started small, but Math as a concept was formed; though most likely unintentionally, and even more likely out of laziness, the building blocks have been laid for all math to come next.
