Week Six of the Philly Varsity Math League:

This week in the Philly League, we have the two most anticipated rematches this year. First, in the Inter AC, Episcopal Academy will face Haverford, a rivalry stretching back to 1889. The most well known matchup between these two teams was in the Varsity Tournament Finals in 2019, where EA won by one point to claim their first championship. Haverford won the most recent matchup between these two schools, and the current score is EA 2, Haverford 1.

And the other rematch is George School vs Shipley. Although Shipley is not George School's official rival, the two Varsity Math teams have become bitter rivals. Shipley beat GS in 2019 by one point, and two years later, when the two would face again, GS won in what became known at GS as "The Shipley Miracle" in the biggest upset in GS Varsity Academics history (very recently dethroned by GSVMT vs Stanford Pre- I mean, Stanford University Online HS). But the reason that this rematch was so anticipated was because of the finals match of the Varsity Tournament in 2021, which George School won by 5 to claim their first Varsity Tournament Championship, another undefeated FSL season, and a positive record over Shipley. This week, Shipley looks to even the score in a match of revenge, this time with the roles reversed...

(Yes, I know that the thing is unbalanced. I'm going to give this to Jonathan and hopefully he can write something.)

Ok, that's enough about those two matches. In other matches, Abington Friends takes on Springside Chestnut Hill Academy this week. Penn Charter, after facing undefeated Episcopal Academy in the previous round, now faces The Hill School, who is also undefeated.

This round is out of 40.

In non-league action, #35 ranked George School takes on #54 ranked Trinity Prep. Trinity Prep and Stanford University Online HS (#56) both got 27 last week, so this will be another test for George School.

Westtown vs Baldwin: Westtown wins with 21
